About me

My artist journey

I started out with a dream to become a Concept Artist for Video Games, and in a way that's exactly what I became, just in a different, much more rewarding industry!

I've been a Graphic Designer, a 3D modeling artist, a Painting Instructor, an artist by commission, and it's all shaped me into a very malleable artist.

I AM the happy little cloud!

(Bob Ross reference)

I started my apprenticeship for Tattooing in 2016 with amazing Portrait and Color Realism artist Javier Benavides (Rest in Peace) in Tijuana, Mexico.

In 2018 I took a Tattoo Composition, Colorwork, and New School Seminar with superb Neo-Traditional Japanese artists Luis Bonilla and Dan Cordero in Costa Rica.

I continued learning throughout my career from great artists in Tijuana like Volta and Chinito Mendoza at Evolucion Tattoo, then I took a leap to start working in San Diego at Studio 767.

I took a break to learn from an artist I greatly admired, Yushi at Oyabun Tattoo, which didn't last long but I learned so much and I am so grateful.

Since then I worked at a few different Tattoo Shops in San Diego, until I realized I am just not a Traditional Tattoo Artist, and I want to embody the change in the industry that I feel is much needed.

Thus Ikebana Ink was born, my own space curated to feel safe, relaxing, and make my clients' comfort a priority.

A space where my clients don't feel rushed through the process of engraving art on your body for life, where my clients and I work as a team to bring their vision to life, and where they feel heard and considered.

A space that prioritizes my relationship with my clients and my community, that strives to be inclusive and respectful. That breaks the stereotypes of Tattoo Artists and the misconceptions of Tattooing.

When I started I dreamed of Fine Line Tattoos and color-only Tattoos with no black, and while every artist told me it wasn't possible, that it would not hold, I was stubborn. I learned and created my own style, applying all sorts of techniques I learned from many different artists, that is ever evolving, and I am happy to see other artist stepping outside the box these days.

So thank you for being a part of my everlasting journey to be an ever learning and growing artist, and person.
